First European User Group of Proposal Software Incorporated's PMAPS Meets to Share Proposal 'Best Practices'
Westport, Conn., and London, England, July 27, 2007 – A first-time meeting of the PMAPS UK-European User Group, comprised of UK and European clients of the leading proposal management software Proposal Management and Production System (PMAPS), took place last month in London, England. Attended by professional proposal managers from a number of the City’s leading global financial institutions, the half-day conference took place at the UK headquarters of The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation in London’s Canary Wharf.
The PMAPS UK-European User Conference was organized and hosted by PMAPS client Stewart Eade, European Request for Proposal (RFP) team leader at The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation. Eade is a vice president heading up a five-member RFP team responsible for the proposal management function for worldwide non-U.S bids including Asia and Australia. The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation began using PMAPS in May, 2006, when it switched from an alternative proposal management platform.
“The purpose of the PMAPS UK-European User Group was to hold a forum for European clients of PMAPS to share ‘best practices’ of proposal writing using the software,” said Eade. “While there was no discussion of any proprietary content, participants gained a great deal of value by sharing our experience of how we each use PMAPS to control our proposal processes and maintain the content ”
Developed by Proposal Software, Inc., PMAPS is a comprehensive, 'industrial strength' proposal management platform for companies that must turn around high volumes of proposals (RFPs and RFIs) under tight deadlines. Originally developed in 1994 and currently in its tenth generation, PMAPS is in use by over 200 companies worldwide, including major healthcare, financial services and Fortune 1000-size corporations in the U.S., Europe and Asia.
Also in attendance to represent the developer of PMAPS was Proposal Software, Inc.’s UK representative and director of financial markets Wendy Cheng-Wong.
Eade said that his enthusiasm for organizing the UK PMAPS User Group arose from his company’s impressive results from its switch to PMAPS from the alternative proposal management platform. His RFP team, which processes approximately 150 RFPs per year under tight deadlines, had gained significantly enhanced productivity in its proposal response process in the year in which it had deployed PMAPS.
The greatest benefit of his company’s switch to PMAPS, said Eade, was a marked improvement of the RFP team’s relationships with in-house “Subject Matter Experts” (SMEs) who provide the RFP team with content for the proposals. "They are now confident that we hold the latest version of their answers because they verify the content regularly. This results in fewer urgent requests for updates.”
Additionally, said Eade, “Since we are not continually going back to SMEs to update the data, our team can spend more time writing and refining the proposals and therefore write better quality proposals.”
Commenting on the first UK-European User Group conference, Eade said, “I was encouraged by everyone’s openness and willingness to participate. Everyone was quite eager to discuss how others are using the software and what they can get out of it. The sharing of experiences sparked many ideas of things they could do with PMAPS when they got back to their own desks.”
Open by invitation to prospective clients as well as PMAPS users located in the UK and Europe, the PMAPS UK-European User Group will meet several times per year, with the next one scheduled for September 2007.
